What is a good earth-resistance value?
There is no useful universal answer. The project design, earth duty, utility requirement and connected protection determine the acceptance target.
Can an earth pit be tested while connected?
The method and connected condition must be recorded. Parallel paths can change the reading, while isolation must follow safe site procedures.
Does maintenance-free earthing need maintenance?
Yes. The term describes the electrode and backfill approach, not permission to ignore terminals, chambers, corrosion and periodic readings.
Can testing show whether another electrode is needed?
It can provide part of the evidence. Soil, fault duty, spacing, network arrangement and the measured condition still need engineering review.
