GI earthing electrodes

GI chemical earthing electrodes in Jaipur

GI chemical earthing electrodes in 2, 3 and 6 metre SIP and PIP formats from 3E Solutions, with model-specific CPRI and JVVNL documents.

Discuss your requirement

When does a GI earthing electrode make sense?

A GI chemical earthing electrode is a practical choice when the approved design permits galvanized construction and the soil exposure, fault duty and service plan suit it. Price alone is a weak basis for the decision.

3E Solutions lists galvanized SIP and PIP electrodes in 2, 3 and 6 metre lengths, with sections that vary by model. Test reports and JVVNL approvals apply to named constructions, not every GI product in the range.

Listed SIP and PIP lengths

The company profile lists these lengths for selected GI or copper inner-conductor constructions.

Which GI models are documented?

The 3E profile lists 50 mm and 80 or 88 mm outer sections across the SIP and PIP family. A separate JVVNL PM-KUSUM approval describes a 3000 mm GI pipe with 50 mm ID, 58 mm OD and a 25 x 6 mm GI strip for the specified set.

One CPRI report records a galvanized 88 mm OD, 80 mm ID, 3000 mm electrode with copper strip that complied at 33 kA rms for 1 second and 70 kA peak. That result belongs to that model.

What makes a GI installation fail early?

An undersized connection, damaged coating, loose refill soil or a pit placed too close to another earth can spoil the installation. The finish may still look new, which is why the handover reading matters.

Keep the full electrode in useful soil, premix the conductive backfill with water and leave the terminal accessible. Separate earthings need at least 2 metres of clear spacing.

What belongs in the GI electrode enquiry?

Name the duty and the construction. A request for a generic GI pipe leaves the test rating, terminal and installation package undefined.

Applicable CPRI report, JVVNL GTP or customer specification where required
Site inputs
Soil or resistance data, pit count, spacing, conductor route and inspection cover

How is the GI electrode selected and installed?

Match the model to the fault duty and site first. Installation then follows the approved drawing and ends with a recorded earth reading.

  1. 01

    Match the duty

Confirm the earth function, fault requirement and model evidence.

  2. 02

    Mark full depth and spacing

Use the full specified length and keep separate earthings at least 2 metres apart.

  3. 03

    Place wet backfill

Premix the compound with water and keep useful mother earth around the pit.

  4. 04

    Inspect and measure

Check the accessible connection and record the installed resistance.

What should be clear before you proceed?

Are GI electrodes available in 2 metre length?+

Yes. The supplied 3E profile lists 2, 3 and 6 metre SIP and PIP options. Availability and section still depend on the selected model.

Is every GI electrode JVVNL approved?+

No. JVVNL approvals name specific constructions, dimensions and GTPs. Match the offered model to the approval document instead of treating approval as a brand-wide label.

Does galvanized construction remove the need for testing?+

No. Coating choice does not establish the installed resistance. Test after installation and keep the chamber and terminal available for later inspection.

Need the GI model matched to a GTP?

Send the duty, dimensions, fault requirement and approval clause. We will identify the relevant 3E model and supporting document.
